Emergency Sock Wash

George Downes called an Emergency Sock Wash to help prepare Peter Knick's Indian Sport Scout racer for the Wauseon flat track races. Pete's magneto drive had worked loose, and chapter machinists George and Bill Lackman machined a keyway into the drive's shaft and gear, and turned a sloppy press fit into a solid assembly.

While installing the refurbished magneto, George misread the assembly instructions, causing a multi-hour delay.

Dave Hennessey, Tim O'Hara, and George Ogden showed up for the free beer and pizza, provided some companionship, but did little actual work except to humilate nimble-fingered George. But isn't that what friends are for?
