Here's the FYBO final plan: Bill Potter is expecting us on SATURDAY, November 24 at 11 am. The eastern contingent will meet at Tom "Rollo" Hardy's home, [...] at 10 am. They will then ride to Bill's home [...] via the American Legion Bridge (I-495) arriving at 11 am. The western contingent will cross White's Ferry into Maria-Land, and figure their own way to Bill's home. After a 1-2 hour tour of Bill's museum, we will hang a right and advance to Listrani's Restaurant at 5100 MacArthur Boulevard, Washington DC 20016 for lunch. During lunch, we'll make the decision (based on the freezing factor) whether to backtrack to the Chain Bridge, or advance into Georgetown, following either MacArthur Boulevard or Foxhall Road, and crossing back into Virginia via the Francis Scott Key Memorial Bridge. Hopefully, Rollo will lead us on the ride back to his house, or we'll be wandering aimlessly around Northern Virginia for several decades. ----------- Not-so-nice-weather plan: turn right out of Bill's driveway, and go a couple miles to The Market On the Boulevard, 7945 MacArthur Blvd, Cabin John, MD 20818. Really close, but overpriced sandwiches. Retreat back to the American Legion Bridge. ----------- We'll be circumscribing an old U.S. Navy Base - the David Taylor Model Basin - on our way to Bill's home. I worked at DTMB from 1989 to 1996. Judges sit in courtrooms and hear the same old tired excuses for traffic tickets from the same old ill-clad, disrespectful defendants day after day after day. What a joy it must be to hear a novel defense argument: http://www.davehennessey.com/autobiography/exuberance.pdf |
