Juan is back home, the 41 UL is safely in his garage, and his dog got a late dinner.

The culprit was a humongous flat-cut masonry nail - about 3-1/2 or 4" long , with a head that was about 1/2" wide.

The assembled multitude was blathering about why is it that usually the rear tire picks up nails. Someone posited that it was because the front tire would kick the nail up from the road surface, and it would be standing up straight when the rear tire went over it. True? Who knows.

Thanks everyone for making my septuagenarian celebration a resounding success.

I drove Saturday's route this morning. The directions were perfect, and the roads were delightful. Percent of roads with no lane markings: High. Percent of roads with gravel: Zero.

The mighty Camry took 1-1/2 hours. Old guys on old motorcycles: ~ 2 hours.

MENU CHANGES - Jennifer decided that we should have a delicious and nutritious home-cooked meal waiting for us, so she will be cooking beef brisket, chicken enchiladas, and various side dishes. Beats store-bought stuff hands down. Grocery shopping and final menu tweaks tomorrow.

Please download and print the turn-by-turn directions, and put them in your pocket. You never know.
