All,

I agree that this should be postponed until a face to face and more investigation of this issue can be done.

I spoke with Dave about this earlier today and he definitely has some thoughts and points to make about this. Trust me that he knows far more about this than any of us. There are privacy and control issues and before we jump into something we need to take a real hard look at it. Just because others are doing it doesn't always mean it's a good thing nor may it be a bad thing. Part of the problems these days is the idea that "well everyone else is doing it" reasoning to justify things isn't a good justification. We already have quite a few who don't want this and their fears may or may not be justified but for now they must be respected.

An intelligent well thought out presentation on the pros and cons needs to be made and, in person not by email or text and listen to all input, and then a vote as to whether to proceed or not.

I know it is hassle for our members that live some distance way whether it be on the NNK or Fishersville or in MD but I do think that it is beneficial to meet face to face and no ones opinion be shut down. I will keep an open mind on this until the presentation Hope others will too!

Good Morning Everyone,

Justin and I have spoken several times regarding the proposed Highlands Chapter FaceBook Group page. He expressed his sincere desire to help the chapter and not to cause any controversy.

I believe the FB Group page might be a useful tool in growing he chapter’s membership, but that is just one opinion. We are a club with many members and each member’s opinion counts. Nothing will ever be forced on the chapter.

Justin suggested holding off any postings until the merits of the page can be formally presented to the chapter. All postings have been halted at this time. Please note: No personal information has been, or will be, included on a Highlands Chapter FB page.

Discussing the proposed FB Group page on the Exchange may not be the most efficient way to handle this matter. A face to face conversation might work better.

Justin would be happy to come with me to the Planning Meeting later this year. He would like to explain the proposed page to anyone who is interested.

If the Chapter’s opinion is to not have an invited-only membership FB Group page, that’s the way it will be. It’s just an idea that Justin came up with, in an effort to help the club’s current and future members.

We will always respect the Chapter member’s opinions. I hope to see you at the planning meeting in the Fall. Until then the Highland FB page will remain on hold.

Please feel free to call me if I can help you in any way.

Best Regards,

Bob
